Your farewell message to President Bush

Exit Making for the exit

Osama bin Laden released a final message taunting America just as George W. Bush prepares to leave the White House. In 20 words or less, what would be your farewell message for President Bush?

You were unlucky that terrorists attacked the USA on your watch. Only the history books will judge your reactions fairly.

Dear Mr. Bush,

Many thanks, for sure things would be far worst for those who love freedom if it was not for you.

Posted by: Riff | 14 Jan 2009 18:52:18

For the past 8 years, President Bush has met every situation with predictable moral integrity. He has been judged quite harshly by people whose primary choices in life concern punctuation and participles. History will judge him kindly. Oh yes, the children of Iraq will never know what the Bathist party under
Ude or Kusay would be like. Where's the "thank you" note?

Posted by: Juan Dasani | 14 Jan 2009 18:52:51

Remember that it is easy for people to judge when they are not the one's faced with making the ultimate decisions. Also remember that many do not realize that Congress is the legislative branch...It is not up to the President to find the answers to all of America's problems. Come back to TEXAS!!

Posted by: Amanda | 14 Jan 2009 18:54:14

Mr. Bush,

Most of the people posting the hatred on here are the ones who claim to be compassionate and un-judgemental. They are called liberal luntics, and they are everywhere. However, they can't help their stupidity and ignorance because the liberal press spoon fed them a bunch of crap about you the entire eight years. I don't know how you did it and kept your character. Thanks for keeping our country safe from the terrorists that Clinton exposed us to in 2001, which is your number one responsibility as President of this country. They were planning more attacks and you stopped them. The jerks posting here with the hatred are selffish, mindless little creeps and frankly, I would have let them all die instead of saving their miserable lives. So, to you morons posting all this hate, your savior Obama is going to harm this country worse than another one of your gods did by the name of Jimmy Carter, the worst president this country has ever had. Get ready to pay taxes...opps, I forgot, you probably don't have jobs.

May the ghosts of all the people you have killed rise up and haunt you forever. May the screams of those you have authorized to be tortured ring in your ears day and night. Great job, Bushie.

'Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power.'
Abraham Lincoln

On the basis of this test, Mr. Bush can hardly be said to have achieved a passing grade.

How strange it must seem to have a black man standing up and saying "God bless President Bush".

Mr. Bush, you have served this country with integrity and honor, and have affected countless lives for the better; from many of whom you have not and probably will never get a kind "thank you. With God's help you guided us through many disasters, and turmoils, of which it seem the world has forgotten. With the Lords guidance you have kept our nation safe since 911, and its not because the fools haven't tried again. You stood with integrity in the face of the most biased and hateful media in the world, "The American Media". You have made a few mistakes along the way but not with the intent to create harm. May God richly bless you Mr. President.

I love and appreciate you.

Thank you for trying to do the right thing. I'm sorry that people "Monday Morning quarterback" and forget about Sept. 12, 2001 when we looked to you for strength.
You did your best and we, GRATEFUL Americans DO THANK YOU FOR IT!

I genuinely think he did what he felt/was advised was the right thing, that he's not an evil man. However the consequences of his poor judgement and decision making will stain World history for generations.

I doubt we'll see a trial, but George W knows it's his bad.

The American presidents, in spite of all their apparent power are just puppets in the hands of a ruling financial oligarchy. I have more freedom of action than they do. I personally think, Bush did a good job as the chief entertainer (clown) of the world. He simply played his part marvellously, and we, the spectators, had a good time enjoying his performance. Thank you Mr. Bush.

If life gets tough in Texas, I guess the Zionists will repay you by finding you a secret safe haven somewhere for all you have done for the Israelis.

The only armed services evader, who ran off from the National Guard when it looked like Vietnam was on the books, to vault to the rank of Commander-in-Chief. But then what can you expect from the USA, all because their first President happened to be a General, then wrote a Constitution that called for all his successors to be C-in-Cs also. Oh yes, and because they didn't have a standing army at the time, also included a 'right to bear arms', and we all know how that turned out, don't we, NRA ? Only in America, you say !

W.... Thank you for leading while some in Congress were looking to Brussels and Chicago for inspiration.

Thank you for 52 consecutive months of job growth, no second 9/11, breaking Libya, the McCain surge, world-beating AIDS investment in Africa, the historic marine sanctuary, sounding the alarm on race-based lending wrought by Clinton, upholding NAFTA, standing by Blair and Howard, and much else.

You achieved this despite the most debilitating attack on America. And despite the complaints of rock stars and FaceBook pundits who imagine that perhaps Chamberlain was correct and today's terrorists are misunderstood.

Gazing at the Panglossian festival that surrounds us all now, I notice that you didn't make much of an effort to be tres branche. And, shucks, I thank ya for that as well.

Posted by: Joe in New York | 14 Jan 2009 20:26:22

George W. Bush will be greatly missed. He has stood firm against Islamic terror and taken the fight to the terrorists after suffering the world's biggest terrorist attack.

Although still a threat, Al qaeda has been severely damaged, and the war on terror has freed 50 million people in Afghanistan and Iraq.

He refused to sign the ridiculous Kyoto treaty and proposed a constructive alternative for clean energy. He always advocated the spread of freedom and believes in the dignity of all human life. The US remained largely prosperous throughout his presidency and his tax cuts gave back the people their own money.

President Bush is a man of principle and courage has always acted with dignity. He has never ducked making a big decision for the sake of short term popularity, and will be judged a great man.

Barack Obama has a lot to live up to. God bless George W. Bush.

Bush is a good guy and a mediocre president who committed many mistakes. Concerning Iraq and Afghanistan, the jury is still out on a final decision, but it does not look good, although obviously no-one will regret Saddam. Bush's handling of the financial crisis is also not to my liking. As he said it himself a few weeks ago, he threw away the principles of a free economy for his ridiculous plan. I strongly fear that he was the new Hoover and that Obama will give us a remake of FDR. Last time, it almost destroyed the world's economy and gave us WWII. Let's hope this time for a better future for all of us.

Posted by: Abigail | 14 Jan 2009 20:38:46

Dear Mr. President - I am still with you and have been since 2000 and was so proud you were in office and our Commander in Chief after 9/11. Well done and I am saddened that so many in the press and my fellow Americans have such a hard time understanding your style. YOu do not worry about polls just what is right or wrong.
You make a decision and stick by it. I think you and Laura do not belong in DC. You are too good a person and too honest for that town. God bless you and thanks. I will always keep your picture in my office and you were my President. thanks Jerry Hutchins Texas

Posted by: Jerry Hutchins | 14 Jan 2009 20:39:25

President Bush should be commended for never having wavered from his principles and values, sometimes having made mistakes, but always having cared for his country and its people. I hope history will be kind to him. Unlike other recent presidents, he certainly cannot be called a liar.

Wow, the hate expressed here for Obama is pretty amazing, as he has yet to even take office. And how extactly did Clinton expose us to terrorists in 2001? It's thanks to people who spew such baseless and mindless vitriol that the past 8 years have been such a shameful black mark on America's reputation. Don't blame Bush for all the crap we've put up, blame the right wing 'minority' for helping him steal two elections.

Thank you for leaving the world a better place than you found it.

Thank you for standing up to evil rather than continuing the Europeans' policy of appeasing the worst people in the world.

Thank you for the tens of billions of aid you have given Africa to fight the scourge of AIDS.

Thank you for building strong, bilateral relationships with many countries throughout Asia and Eastern Europe.

Bad luck that you couldn't undo the Democrat's financial industry debacle before it collapsed and hurt everyone. Now they're back in power they'll have to fix what they broke.

Enjoy your retirement. Stay well.

It should be proven now that stupid people cannot lead. Bush is a C student and a man who does not understand the world very well. The reason he failed were because he was not smart. Dumb people should not be President, Prime Minister or head of anything. This is why your stupid brother in law is not the head of his company, because he would screw it up. If you take away the awful things he has done, he is at best a foolish man who should never have been considered for a jo of that magnitude. If you belive he is not a total idiot then his actions can only be explained by pure evil.

Juan, an awful lot of Iraqis will not know what life under Saddam Hussien and the Bathist party would be like, because they are dead.
Dubya is reponsible for a lot more dead Iraqis, than Saddam ever was.
The democracy he was bringing them was rooted in his desire for oil. A more confused president is hard to imagine.

Your run for presidency came with so much promise to promote business and progress. The 9/11 atrocity shook the world with horror and you stood up and chased the transgressors against the pressure of others. I think your presidency has been a remarkable journey and you have coped amazingly well. Your reaction time is also remarkable !

The realty is that the world is faced with another global problem. A problem that was ignored because it mostly targeted Israel and Jews (at first as most of the greatest fiends in histroy have i.e. Stalin, Hitler, Saddam,). Now that London, New York, Mumbai, Russia, China, Spain, Colombia, Jordan, Pakistan (and the list goes on) face the same Jihadist threat of ruthless and ultimatly wrong terror some have woken up to the threat, led again by America and as it turns out president Bush. Most great leaders ranging from Mohammed to Moses to FDR where criticized during their reign it is only in retrospect that we can appreciate their actions. President Bush simply attempted to keep his promise to the American people namley to protect them and confront a dreadful enemy. This is directly connected with Americas strong support for Israel. That is, Israel and Jews are always in the front line of the worlds problems, America as the undisputed leader of the free world (though I am sure many readers would disagree) partly perceives thia and supports Israel against a common threat. Regardless, Bush tried to galvanize the free world which is neccessary to defeat terror. By the free worlds press printing uncertian "facts" about Bush and the west we undermine that mission. Again I stress whether we like Americans Jews or Muslims is irrelavent. We must unite to defeat our and our childrens common enemy Terror in its REAL FORM (not a twisted term used by terrorist actors). Bush attemepted this and it is only a matter of time beofore the free world coaleces behind his true words.

Nobody is going to look back and say he was a good president, but lets be honest, it wasnt the easiest time to be an american president.

After 9/11 he did what he belived was right. It was his only option. It was either go to war or do nothing, and that wasnt going to happen.

I think he would have been looked upon more favorably had he been a bit more tactfull with his public appearances.

Either way, i dont think he will be missed.

When W took office the economy was way better than now. The deficit was running in the black, it was a surplus of millions. Like every oil company daddy gave him that he bankrupted, he did the same to what was the most powerful nation in the world. Now that nation is in the same dire straits as ones we used to "rescue". W's father was a great President. Jeb was a great governor and would have been a great President like his father. W has ruined the Bush name just as he has ruined the entire US economy. He invaded a sovergn nation that had nothing to do with 9-11 and should have to answer for that. All of the innocent lives that were lost in the name of "Weapons of Mass Destruction" (that did not exist) is one of the most appalling stories in recent history. W blames the CIA for bad intel. Read George Tennet's book for the truth on that. W has blamed every travesty he created on one of his cronies, why you ask. Just wait and see who he pardons before he leaves office. One thing W is a master at is blaming others and covering up his messes. I hope Congress investigates W after he is out of office and somone takes Bugliosi's advice from his book, "The prosecution of George W Bush for Murder". Good riddens W, than G-d we'll never have to see that smirking face again!

Little point in flogging the dead

especial thank you for an
unprecedented investment in the
health of the indigent in Africa
