And the prize for most embarrassing speech at a motion pictures award ceremony goes to...
The nominees are:
Halle Berry - Best Actress, Monster's Ball, Oscars 2002
"This moment is so much bigger than me," Berry said when she finally suppressed the tears after becoming the first African-American to win the best actress statuette. "I am so honoured and I thank the Academy for choosing me for being the vessel through which this blessing might flow."
James Cameron - 11 Oscars for Titanic, 1998
"I'm the king of the world," Cameron declared after picking up the best director award. Minutes later he was up there again for best picture and asked the audience for a few seconds of silence to remember the victims of the Titanic disaster.
Sally Field, Best Actress, Places in the Heart, Oscars 1985
It was field's second best actress award - she had also won for the 1979 film Norma Rae. In what became the defining line of her career, she gushed: "The first time I didn't feel it, but this time I feel it, and I can't deny the fact that you like me, right now, you like me!"
Gwyneth Paltrow, Best Actress, Shakespeare in Love, Oscars 1998
"I would not have been able to play this role had I not understood love of a tremendous magnitude." Enough said.
Kate Winslet; Best Actress, Revolutionary Road, Golden Globes 2009
Only the Golden Globes this one, but it's an instant classic nonetheless and on this form we can only hope that our Kate picks up an Oscar next month. "Sorry Anne, Meryl, Kristin - and who’s the other one? Angelina. Now forgive me, is this really happening?”
And the winner is..
You choose.
Stop it! It wasn't embarrassing at all, instead it was honest and natural. And so what she forgot one name?, she remembered 4 others!
Kate's a Sun!

yeah, pretty cringeworthy stuff alright. It's just the 'emotion' of the moment though. I like Kate Winslet normally. I thought Mickey Rourke's acceptance speech was suitably understated and mentioning the Boss was righteous!

why do they cry? do they believe they've won something so great they can't believe it? I saw it on the tv today and she sounded totally ridiculous. She's a good actress but lives in a fantasy world like most of them there.

WHO CARES?!?!
I am fairly certain that if you were to be presented with a prestigious award for WHATEVER occupation you have, you would be over the moon and accepting of it as well! Don't give me that crap about being in times of being in 'crisis or in war'

Good acting! how fake and boring!. She is a very good actress but not necessarily interesting or clever, as far as i know she says the words someone else wrote and does what someone else tells her to do. Congrats to her though but keep it simple next time and chill out babe cause no one really cares anymore about these awards except some fat americans with nothing to do but watch telly

we got it, thank you, thank you!
boring and quite sad in these times of crisis and war.
These actors belong to another planet unless they are stupid or totally full of themselves

She truly believes she is winning something extraordinary like a war or something. Just another silly awards ceremony!

How pathetic! then again most actors never finished high school and were told they were great people since the day they turned four. I thought only silly americans did these speeches so it's quite disappointing seeing Kate Winslet doing it

I thought her speech was very sweet and spontaneous.
After all she had been nominated five times each by oscar and the golden globes and never won.

Was Kate doing that thing where you pretend to forget someone's name to undermine them? Miaow!

Dear old Kate.

Oh Kate, you get the award for being a silly numpty and forgetting one of the actresses names. Oops :-)
