Prize! Twenty Summers Cruising
Reading Chris Ayres's review of Mission Impossible III, due to crash across the world's screens from midnight tonight, we realised (and this was grim) that it was 20 years since the release of Top Gun and the mega-fame of the little man.
Two decades (plus a little bit, because we can't forget Risky Business) is a long time at the top. So we thought, maybe because the Cruise phenomenon is fraying now, coming apart as the Scientology comes together, that it was a moment to remember the good times: the cocktails, the rainmen, the code reds.
So what's your best Tom moment? Care to reminisce? Here are a few pointers: the IMDB guide, a loopy fan site, something a little more critical, and a decent, blow-by-blow timeline. The incentive? We have five DVD box-sets of Missions Impossible I and II to give away to the best entries. The deadline? Noon BST on Friday. Enter in the comment box below.
To get you going, think of every time he picks up the baseball bat in A Few Good Men. Oh yes, and the best line from Eyes Wide Shut... Anyone?
